Did you know that Dick Sittig, the CD at The Secret Weapon, is the voice of Jack from Jack in the Box? I overheard him presenting the newest spots for the Grilled Panini’s to the clients. It was awesome to have the scripts presented by the actual voice! That must be how they convince the clients to run those crazy ads.

Sadly, I wasn’t called in to write JIB spots. Instead, I got to work on a cool service called CLEAR. As you’ll see below, CLEAR provides “super fast mobile internet” to people in select cities so that their laptops can be online wherever they go. Too bad they’ll never come to L.A. The land is too vast they say. Anyway, here’s the campaign I worked on.

A Wish For Animals (AWFA) saves dogs from shelters before they get euthanized. (Side note: whenever I type euthanized, WordPress underlines it as if it’s not a word. I guess they hate the idea so much, they’re denying it exists.) Below are the posters I wrote to raise money and awareness during their casino-themed fundraiser event. This work was pro bono.

Sage is a happening restaurant located in Orange County.
Okay, I’ll be honest… I’ve never actually been there. But I’m guessing many others have, especially after reading these super-witty-summer-themed headlines.

The designer of BMW’s Z8 and several Aston Martin vehicles, Henrik Fisker, decided to build his own line of sexy luxury vehicles. However, his cars are supposed to be super fast, chic, affordable, and check this: environmentally friendly. That’s right! Imagine an Aston Martin that gets 100 miles/gallon! If you want one, you better sign up quick. These bad boys are sold out until 2011.

Needless to say, I had lots of fun not only writing, but concepting and designing this brochure. Make sure to check it out.

If you’re Asian, or have been to an Asian person’s home, you’ve probably seen a Zojirushi product. They’re famous for making top quality kitchen products like rice cookers and water heaters. Even I have one of their rice cookers at home. In the past few years, I’ve written many of their marketing pieces. Feel free to download some of them below.

Listerine Posters
This was the first project where I worked with a photographer. As you can imagine, it was messy.

Schick Razors
This was my first copy-driven campaign.

Copy: “I was never a big Hasselhoff fan”
Tagline: “Get closer to the true you”

Copy: “I grew out this beard to cover my butt-chin but I realized I’m just not a beard guy. Besides, I don’t want to end up with a hairy butt-chin.”
Tagline: “Get closer to the true you”

Copy: “I just saw Susan’s stubbles poking through her stockings. When she’s snuggling with her furry husband, I wonder if their legs stick together like velcro.”
Tagline: “Get closer to the true you”

Palm Treo
I had to devote a campaign to my trusty Palm Treo Smart Phone. I wouldn’t have survived Art Center without it.

Tagline: “Get it together”

Tide Detergent
I did the drawings as well. I’m quite the pantie illustrator.

Keys to Success: Thunder vs Lakers

It’s incredible how this is the only one-sided match up in the Western Conference. Even still, I believe the Thunder have at least a 5% chance of pulling this off given how the Lakers have been playing lately. As a Clippers season ticket holder, let me just say this: there is no excuse to losing to the Clippers twice in the same season. Especially when their home games are actually your home games. Anyway, let’s look at each team’s key to success.

Thunder: Russell Westbrook
Once the Thunder realize that Derek Fisher is completely useless on both ends of the court, Russel can take full advantage of every minute Fisher is on the court. He still can’t shoot that well but if he can keep taking to the rim, it’s over.

Lakers: Shannon Brown / Jordan Farmar

Let me explain. The better they play, the less Derek Fisher plays. they’re also young enough to keep up with the Thunder’s energy and speed. Since Kobe and the rest will have their minds set on the Championship series, this first round should be the young guards’ chance to shine.

Prediction: Lakers 4-1
The Lakers just have too much experience and size over the Thunder to let this one slip. However, I could also see the Thunder surprising everyone with a W early on in the series.
